Bar soap is light and compact, so most soap packaging is about presentation and information rather than heavy protection. The common formats are a tuck end box, a sleeve that slides over the bar, a window box that shows the color and texture, and pillow boxes for small guest soaps.

When to choose each style

• Sleeves use the least material and let shoppers smell the soap.
• Window boxes suit swirled or layered soaps worth showing off.
• Fully closed boxes keep fragrance in and protect bars in transit.
• Two-piece or mailer boxes work for gift sets with several bars or a dish.

Materials and finishes

Kraft paperboard is the classic choice for handmade soap because it is unbleached and looks natural. SBS paperboard gives a bright white base for full-color art. Matte finishes suit natural brands; foil or embossing works for luxury lines. Soap can contain oils that mark uncoated board, so ask us about coatings or a wrap if your bars are soft or oily.

Design tips

Measure the bar after curing, since bars can shrink slightly. Plan a clear ingredient panel; whether your soap is regulated as a cosmetic or as true soap affects labeling, so check the current rules for your products in the USA or Canada. A small die-cut window or vent can let the scent through without exposing the whole bar.
