What is a cube box?
A cube box has the same measurement on every side. It is not a single construction: a cube can be a tuck end folding carton, a corrugated mailer, a two-piece rigid box with a lid or a gift box with a ribbon. What makes it a cube is the proportion, which gives a balanced, compact look on a shelf.
When to choose a cube box
Cube boxes fit products that are about as tall as they are wide: coffee mugs, candle jars, skincare tubs, small speakers, plants, ornaments and boxed gift sets. Four identical side panels mean the product looks the same from any angle on a shelf, and cubes stack neatly for storage and display.
Materials and finishes
- SBS paperboard: a bleached board with a smooth white surface for bright, detailed print on retail cartons.
- Kraft: unbleached board with a natural brown look.
- E-flute corrugated: a thin fluted board that adds crush resistance for shipping mugs or jars.
- Rigid chipboard: thick board wrapped in paper for premium gift cubes.
Matte, gloss or soft-touch lamination, foil stamping and embossing all suit the flat panels of a cube.
