When a spout pouch beats a bottle

A spout pouch combines the shelf presence of a stand-up bag with the pouring control of a bottle. The pouch body is a laminated film with a gusseted base, so it stands upright when filled, and a plastic spout is sealed into the top or corner with a screw cap. Customers pour, squeeze or sip, then close the cap again. Empty pouches ship and store flat before filling, which saves space compared with rigid containers.

Center spouts suit drinkable products and squeezable purees, while corner spouts pour more cleanly for sauces, detergents and refill liquids. Clear films show the color of juices and soaps; metallized laminates protect light-sensitive contents. Custom printed spout pouches can use matte or gloss surfaces, and shaped die-cut bodies give kids' snacks or beverages a distinctive outline. Cap size and color should match the product's thickness and your brand palette.

Spout bags need clear directions near the cap and a front panel that reads at a glance. Put the product name and flavor large on the front, and keep ingredients, directions and recycling notes on the back. Food, beverage and baby products have specific labeling and material rules that vary by region, so check current requirements for your category and ask about food-contact materials for your product.

FAQ

Custom Spout Pouches: questions answered

Still unsure? Ask a packaging specialist.

What are spout pouches used for?
They hold liquids and semi-liquids that customers pour, squeeze or drink, such as juices, purees, sauces, soaps and refill products. The screw cap reseals the pouch, and the flexible film ships and stores more compactly than many rigid bottles.
Can I get custom printed spout pouches with my logo?
Yes. The full surface of the pouch can be printed with your logo, product name, flavor colors and back-panel information. You approve a digital proof showing every panel and the spout position before production starts.
What is the difference between a spout pouch and a spout bag?
They are usually the same product. Spout bag is a common search term for a stand-up pouch with a fitted spout and cap. Larger spouted bags without a stand-up base are also used for bulk refills, and we can discuss either format.
Are spout pouches safe for food and baby products?
Many spout pouches are made for food, drinks and baby food, but the requirements depend on your product and market. Ask about food-contact films and fittings, and check the current rules for your category before approving the order.
How do I get spout pouch pricing?
Send the fill volume, product type, spout and cap preference, quantity and artwork through the quote form. A specialist recommends a film and spout setup for your product and replies with pricing, and a digital proof follows.
